Scope and Content:

Papers of Albert G. Sloo concerning the construction of a Tehuantepec mail route across Mexico are the most important unit of this collection.  Among the materials are many legal documents relating to the beginnings and endings of the Louisiana Tehuantepec Company.  Also included are family letters from Indiana and New Orleans, 1860’s to 1940’s dealing with family news, farming, and business concerns, and the genealogy of the Sloo, Leech, White, and Rearden families.  There are a few family photographs and clippings.
