The Affordable Learning LOUISiana initiative is a pilot project funded by The Louisiana Board of Regents. Its purpose is to promote affordable learning resources in the state to help reduce students' cost for required course materials. Through our Affordable Learning LOUISiana initiative, LOUIS partners libraries and faculty to save students money on education by reducing the costs of instructional materials through the use of Affordable Education Resources (AERs), Open Educational Resources (OERs), and other open access materials. This also ensures that students have equitable access to course materials on the first day of class.
Using the Louisiana Statewide Common Course Catalog, LOUIS library consortium created and maintains a list of potential open education resources (OERs) that faculty may choose to adopt in their courses. It is the primary source of OER content for this project and content from other OER repositories will be included on an ongoing basis.
